Lazio Wing Back Mohamed Fares Could Miss Zenit Match Due to Muscle Injury

Lazio wing back Mohamed Fares is at risk of missing tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg due to a muscle injury, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the 24-year-old Algerian, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, limped off near the end of the win against Torino on the weekend, suffering from muscle pains.

The former SPAL player’s condition is still to be evaluated, but some fear that the Roman club will have to deal with yet another absence.

Fares, who joined Lazio in a deal worth around €10 million last month, has made six appearances so far this season under coach Simone Inzaghi, for a total of 416 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist and has looked strong as a left wing back.

Lazio are currently top of Group F in the Champions League, and a win over Zenit tomorrow would put the club in a strong position to progress out of the group.
