Zenit St. Petersburg coach Sergei Semak’s position at the club is at risk and a loss to Lazio tomorrow could be decisive for his future, according to reports from the Russian media (and as written by Italian media outlet Radiosei and La Lazio Siamo Noi).
The report details how the Russian coach, who has held the post since 2018, is hoping to recover Artem Dzyuba, Wendel and Sebastián Driussi in time for the European clash against Simone Inzaghi’s side tomorrow night.
The Russian club have lost both of their first two games in the competition, losing 2-1 to Belgian side Club Brugge and 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund.
The club’s board are unhappy with Zenit’s progress so far in Europe and a loss to Lazio tomorrow night could be decisive for Semak’s future, with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly ready to replace him.
Zenit are currently second in the Russian Premier League, one point behind league leaders CSKA Moscow.
