Lazio Midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: “We Have Studied Zenit’s Matches, We’re Ready”

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic commented on the Biancocelesti’s upcoming Champions League clash against Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg this evening when speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

“We have watched their matches yesterday and today and studied them, we know they play a lot on the attack, but we will try to be ready and have a good match.

“We have prepared for the match and obviously we will try to win it by bringing the three points home.”

The Biancocelesti are currently top of their Champions League group, sitting on four points alongside Belgian side Club Brugge.

A win against Zenit this evening puts Simone Inzaghi’s team in a good position to qualify for the next round of the competition, but the Roman side will have to do without multiple stars tonight.

Last season’s top scorer Ciro Immobile, starting goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha and experienced midfielder Lucas Leiva will not be playing after failing UEFA’s Covid-19 tests, frustrating for Lazio considering the trio featured against Torino on the weekend.

Zenit have lost both of their first two games in the competition, 2-1 to Club Brugge and 2-0 to German side Borussia Dortmund last week.
