Italian journalist Paolo Condò discussed the performance of Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo in the 1-1 Champions League draw against Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg on the TV show ’5×5 Champions League’, hosted by Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia yesterday.
“It’s no surprise that Caicedo was lined up for the current match. He proved to be two players in one, a good forward and an excellent forward if deployed in the last 20/30 minutes.
“He has a coldness in front of goal that is extraordinary. We saw that against Torino and against Zenit.”
The 32-year-old Caicedo, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2022, scored the equalising goal for the Roman club in the 82nd minute of their European clash against Zenit, a vital goal to ensure that Inzaghi’s side took home a point from a cold night in Russia.
The Ecuadorian forward also scored the winning goal against Torino in the 4-3 comeback last weekend in the 98th minute, showing his ability to make a difference in the final minutes of the game.
Last season, Caicedo made 38 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 1944 minutes. In that time, he scored nine goals and provided six assists, including a last minute winner against Sassuolo.
