Lazio Midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro Called up by Ivory Coast

Lazio midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro has been called up by Patrice Beaumelle to take part in Ivory Coast’s upcoming matches.

Both of the African nation’s matches are against Madagascar (Africa Cup of Nations Qualification). The first match is set to take place at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 14:00 (EST); the second match against is set to take place at the Barikadimy Stadium on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 8:00 (EST).

Since making his debut for Ivory Coast in June 2014 against Bosnia (in a 2-1 loss), Akpa Akpro has secured 10 other caps at the international level. Over this period, he has played a total of 541 minutes. In addition, he has been called up for international duty but remained on the bench on 19 other occasions.

As it stands, Ivory Coast currently sits in third place in their Africa Cup of Nations group (Group K) with a record of 1W-0D-1L (3 points). They defeated Niger 1-0 in Matchday 1, but lost to Ethiopia 2-1 in Matchday 2.
