Lazio Midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Has Already Joined Serbian National Team

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has already joined the Serbian national team training camp, ahead of their play-off against Scotland this week, according to a report from Italian media outlet Cittaceleste earlier today.

The report details how the 25-year-old Serbian midfielder, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, has managed to join the Serbian national team, after the recent chaos in Italy regarding the international break.

The Italian Local Health Authority blocked players from six Serie A clubs, including the Biancocelesti, from joining their national teams due to positive cases of Covid-19 in the squads, but some national federations have been pushing hard for their players, especially those with something important to play.

Serbia face Scotland in a play-off match on Thursday this week that will determine which of the two sides will take part in next summer’s European Championships, a key game for both nations.

Milinkovic-Savic has made 18 appearances for Serbia since making his debut in 2017.
