The Italian Local Health Authority have blocked Lazio players from joining their respective national teams due to positive cases of Covid-19 in the squad, according to a report from the FIGC yesterday.
The report details how six Serie A clubs, including the Biancocelesti, will not be able to send their players to their respective national teams, in an attempt to limit the spread of Covid-19. The other clubs are Roma, Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter and Sassuolo.
Of the 41 players initially called up by coach Roberto Mancini, 10 will not be arriving due to these conditions, with Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi and Ciro Immobile both remaining in isolation.
The international break has not been well received in Italy, with many like Inter CEO Beppe Marotta complaining about the national team commitments given the current climate of Covid-19 and the busy schedule the players have been working within.
Lazio’s next game is against Crotone on 21st November.
