Journalists from Goal.com have drawn up the list of the 25 best players in the world in the 2019/20 season, with Lazio striker Ciro Immobile coming in 19th place.
The report details how the 30-year-old Italian striker, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, made 44 appearances across all competitions last season, for a total of 3685 minutes. In that time, he scored 39 goals and provided eight assists, winning the European Golden Boot and the Capocannoniere award.
Despite his clinical season, Immobile still finished fairly low in the rankings, especially considering that Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Inter’s Romelu Lukaku both finished ahead of him, despite being less decisive.
Immobile’s 36 goals in the league tied former Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain’s record, and his goals were key in the Roman side’s return to the Champions League.
This season, Immobile has scored four goals and provided one assist in six appearances across all competitions, struggling with inconsistent Covid-19 tests.
