Lazio central defender Francesco Acerbi has enjoyed a terrific run of form over the past 12 months. As a result of these performances, the player is set to be rewarded with a starting place in Italy’s next match. The Azzurri take on Poland in Matchday 5 of the UEFA Nations League.
Italy’s last match was a friendly against Estonia. Roberto Mancini’s team won that game 4-0. Although Acerbi did not play any role in that friendly, it is likely that his experience will be called upon for the more important game against Poland. The 32-year-old will likely start alongside Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Alessandro Bastoni and Emerson in Italy’s backline.
Another Lazio player who could be ready to play an important role in the game is Lazio striker Ciro Immobile. However, last year’s Capoconnoniere and European Golden Shoe winner is still waiting for his COVID-19 results. If the result comes back as negative, he will not join the team. Below is Italy’s expected starting eleven against Poland.
Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Florenzi, Acerbi, Bastoni, Emerson; Barella, Jorginho, Locatelli; Bernardeschi, Belotti, Insigne.
