Lazio midfielder Gonzalo Escalante returned to training this morning, taking part in individual exercises, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.
The report details how the 27-year-old Argentine midfielder, who joined the club as a free agent in September, has been struggling over the last couple of months with muscle problems, which have forced him to miss six games already.
Today he took part in individual training, direction changing exercises and also working with the ball. His return is getting closer, although he is unlikely to feature against Crotone this weekend.
Captain Senad Lulic is also continuing his recovery, and he took part in the entirety of the squad’s training exercises today, the report continues. The player may even be deployed by coach Simone Inzaghi this weekend.
Over the next few hours more players are expected to return from their respective national teams, allowing the Italian coach to begin proper tactical preparations for this weekend’s match.
Ciro Immobile and Thomas Strakosha were still absent, both dealing with frustrating cases of Covid-19.
