Lazio Striker Ciro Immobile’s Second COVID-19 Test Today Positive for N Gene

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile’s second Covid-19 test this morning showed the infamous ‘N’ gene present, forcing him to remain in isolation, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.

The report details how the 30-year-old Italian striker, who is contracted to the Roman side until 2025, carried out a double Covid-19 test yesterday. The first results returned negative, but the second set released today discovered the presence of the ‘N’ gene still.

As such, his medical visit to Paideia this morning was cancelled and he is still in isolation, the report continues. Immobile has not been given the green light by the Local Health Authority to return to the squad and as such, seems unlikely to feature against newly promoted Crotone this weekend.

Immobile has already missed three games so far this season due to positive Covid-19 tests, two Champions League games against Club Brugge and Zenit St. Petersburg and a vital league clash against Juventus.
