Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has tested positive for Covid-19, according to an official announcement by the Serbian football federation earlier today.
The report details how the 25-year-old Serbian midfielder, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, was one of three Serbia players to test positive for the contagion ahead of their Nations League clash against Russia tonight. The other two players who tested positive were Darko Lazović and Đorđe Nikolić.
One of Serbia’s physiotherapists also tested positive, the report continues, and all four have now left the Stara Pazova Sports Centre.
Milinkovic-Savic will now enter quarantine for at least 10 days, ruling him out of the upcoming league clash against newly promoted Crotone and the Champions League match against Zenit St. Petersburg next week.
Italian striker Ciro Immobile and Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, who have both spent weeks fighting the virus, have finally tested negative and are returning to the squad.
