Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is at risk of being benched for the upcoming clash against Crotone, despite performing well in training, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei earlier today.
The report details how the 28-year-old Spaniard, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, is set to pay a huge fine to the club after his social media rant regarding the purchase of a new personalised plane and players’ salaries last week.
Luis Alberto may also be benched against newly promoted Crotone this week as further punishment, the report continues, but his work in training this week is making that a difficult decision for coach Simone Inzaghi.
The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder has appeared in dazzling form in training, showing a great desire to impress on the pitch after his recent battle with Covid-19, that forced him to miss three games across the league and Champions League.
The player has scored one goal in seven appearances so far this season.
