Formello: Lazio’s Preparations for UCL Match Against Zenit Begin

Coach Simone Inzaghi led the training sessions held at the Formello Sports Centre earlier today.

The players involved included the members of the squad that did not take the field against Crotone, in addition to those who only featured in the second half of the Serie A clash in Calabria (Wesley Hoedt, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, Andreas Pereira, Adam Marusic, Felipe Caicedo).

The training session included an aerobic warm-up, followed by ball possession drills, and a small-sided scrimmage; while this occurred, the starters of the match against the Rossoblu were at the gym to receive massages.

The tactical preparation, as well as medical tests, will be carried out tomorrow (Monday, November 23, 2020) on the eve of the club’s UEFA Champions League clash against Zenit St. Petersburg.

As it stands, Luiz Felipe and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will both miss this match due to Covid-19. Another player that will not be available for the match against the Russian team is Senad Lulic, who has not yet been registered for the competition.

Furthermore, another player who may be sidelined is Gonzalo Escalante, who is still dealing with a muscle strain. He will continue to be evaluated, but it is likely that he will not feature in the match against Zenit.
