Lazio’s Luis Alberto Has Completed 5th Most Passes In Opponent’s Penalty Area This Season

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is fifth in Europe for passes completed within the opponent’s penalty area, according to a report from Italian stats provider LazioPage on Twitter earlier today.

The report details how the 28-year-old Spaniard, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, has completed 24 passes in the opponent’s penalty area so far this season, the fifth most in Europe.

Above him are Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (25), Atalanta’s Papu Gomez (27), Real Sociedad’s David Silva (27) and Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria (28).

This is proof of the player’s importance to coach Simone Inzaghi and the Biancocelesti, with his strong form key this campaign.

Luis Alberto recently found himself in the hot seat after publicly complaining about Lazio’s purchase of a personalised plane, which resulted in him being given a large fine by the Roman club.

The case has been closed, the player has apologized and since played a full 90 minutes against Crotone.
