Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi: “This Squad Are Giving Me Great Emotions”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi discussed the Roman club’s important 3-1 Champions League win over Zenit St. Petersburg in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio earlier today, after the game.

Great match, the guys were good, we are in a good position for qualification to the next round, one point is enough and we hope to pick it up in Dortmund next week.

We know what our path has been in these years, the quarter finals have been missing for a long time and we hope to reach this goal as soon as possible.

The opponent tonight was not trivial, we are talking about players of great depth especially up front where they have very strong players, but ours did very well and I have to compliment them.

The Italian coach spoke about the performances of star striker Ciro Immobile and veteran midfielder Marco Parolo.

They are exceptional, this squad are giving me great emotions, they always put everything on the pitch.

Ciro and Marco were very good, but congratulations should be paid to all the players who earnt a very important victory.

Finally, Inzaghi looked ahead to the Biancocelesti’s next game in the competition, against group leaders Borussia Dortmund next week. The Roman club won the first meeting 3-1 last month.

It will be a challenging match that we will try to face in the best way but first we have another very difficult match with Udinese and we have to recover in the best way.

The Biancocelesti are currently 8th in the Serie A table after eight games, sitting with 14 points, two behind 4th place Juventus.

Inzaghi’s side will face 16th place Udinese on the weekend, an important game to continue the squad’s strong momentum.

Lazio are second in their Champions League group after four games, sitting with eight points, one behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Matching or bettering Club Brugge’s result against Zenit next week guarantees qualification for the Roman club.
