Lazio Striker Ciro Immobile: “I Had a Lot of Anger and Desire to Do Well and I Showed That”

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile discussed the Biancocelesti’s important 3-1 Champions League win over Zenit St. Petersburg earlier tonight in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel after the game.

I’m very satisfied. We had an exceptional match. It was not easy to recover energy after the Crotone game on such a pitch.

I was super motivated, all my teammates were great. When we are like this it’s difficult to fight us.

The 30-year-old Italian striker, who is contracted to the Roman club until 2025, commented on his goal, which was scored only minutes into the game.

I had so much enthusiasm for this competition. Missing two games made me very disappointed, especially because I was fine.

I had a lot of anger and desire to do well and I showed that. We are in great physical and mental condition.

Finally, the former Torino and Borussia Dortmund striker touched on the team’s work to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

We have the opportunity to finish the group first by having a big game in Dortmund. In a week’s time we have the play-off, we know that what we did in the first leg will not be enough.

If it doesn’t go well against Dortmund, we will play for it all against Bruges at home.

Immobile has made eight appearances across all competitions so far this season.

In that time, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists, continuing to impress after his incredible season last campaign.

The 30-year-old Italian striker suffered from a long battle with Covid-19, which forced him to miss three games, including the two prior Champions League matches.

Lazio’s win puts them in a good position to qualify for the next round of the competition, now only needing to match or better Club Brugge’s result against Zenit next week.
