Fiorentina Keeping Tabs on Lazio Striker Felipe Caicedo

According to Italian sports outlet Calciomercato.com, Serie A side Fiorentina is considering the signing of Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo in this upcoming Winter Transfer Window.

This is due to their surprisingly poor start to the 2020/21 campaign; newly-appointed coach Cesare Prandelli, who is having his second spell in charge of the Viola (following a five-year spell from 2005-2010), wants to reinforce the team’s attacking department and believes that the Ecuadorian would fit well into his tactics.

As it stands, Caicedo’s contract with the Biancocelsti is set to expire in 2022. While there were plenty of rumours this past summer that stated the player’s probable departure, in the end, he remained in Rome.

This has been a blessing in disguise, as the striker has already come to Lazio’s rescue on more than one occasion this season.

Thus far, he has scored four times in nine appearances in all competitions, carrying the team when main striker Ciro Immobile was absent. As a result of his performances, he has earned praise from both management and his teammates.

While Caicedo is, certainly lower down the pecking order than he would like, his good run of form and comfortability in Rome would make a switch to Fiorentina unlikely to happen at this time.
