Lazio Midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Tests Negative for COVID-19

Lazio has certainly dealt with an unprecedented injury crisis thus far this season due to Covid-19. Several key players have been forced out of the squad due to the virus challenging the club to find results in difficult times. However, the Biancocelesti will soon be at full force.

After having Ciro Immobile and Lucas Leiva return to Simone Inzaghi’s disposal against Crotone this past weekend, and Luiz Felipe return for the UEFA Champions League match against Zenit yesterday, La Lazio Siamo Noi is reporting that Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has also recovered after his tests (taken on Monday and Tuesday) came back negative. As a result, the Serbian midfielder will be able to end his quarantine in Serbia and return to Rome today to join his teammates in preparation for this weekend’s upcoming match.

Milinkovic-Savic, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, was one of three Serbia players to test positive for the contagion ahead of the country’s Nations League clash against Russia back on November 18. As a result, he was forced to enter quarantine, unable to return to Italy until testing negative.

When he returns to Italy, further medical analyses will be carried out; but if everything checks out as is hoped, the midfielder will likely return to the Biancocelesti’s starting eleven for the club’s Serie A fixture against Crotone.
