Lazio defender Stefan Radu’s career with the Romanian national team has firmly ended, according to what deputy national team coach Nicolae Dica said in an interview with Romanian media outlet Telekom Sport earlier today.
I know it is a closed chapter. There is no point talking about Radu anymore because there have been several attempts.
The 34-year-old Romanian defender, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until the end of the season, has not made an appearance for the Romanian national team since a 2-2 draw against Hungary in a World Cup qualifier back in 2013.
The reasons are because of various injuries over the years ruling him out of the squad and a falling out with the national football federation.
Radu has made five appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 307 minutes. In that time, he has helped Lazio keep two clean sheets.
The 34-year-old Romanian has missed seven games this campaign due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected to return against Udinese this weekend.
