Ex-Goalkeeper Bizzarri: “the Biancocelesti Will Be Able to Find Consistency in the League”

Former Lazio goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri discussed the Biancocelesti’s disappointing loss to Udinese yesterday, the squad and the upcoming Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei earlier today.

First, he touched on yesterday’s defeat.

Despite the loss, the Biancocelesti will be able to find consistency in the league table. It will not be easy this year, also considering the return of AC Milan among the greats, but the season is long and there is time to recover.

The 43-year-old Argentinian, who also played for Real Madrid and Racing Club in his career, then commented on the battle for a starting spot between Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina.

Strakosha has done very well in the last 3-4 years, he has improved a lot thanks to the work of Grisons. Reina is a unique kind of goalkeeper in style, class and experience.

The healthy competition between two excellent goalkeepers is good for the whole environment, and for the team as well. It is up to Inzaghi then to choose the goalkeeper who he sees best in training every match.

Finally, Bizzarri spoke about the Biancocelesti’s important European clash against Borussia Dortmund. A win guarantees qualification to the next round of the Champions League, an important result for coach Simone Inzaghi.

Lazio has the chance to do well against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. It should not be a problem to play in two competitions for the big teams, the Biancocelesti players have been doing it for years.

Lazio’s defeat to Udinese yesterday means that they are now 9th in the Serie A table after nine games, sitting on 14 points, three behind rivals Roma.

Their next game in the league is against newly-promoted Spezia this weekend.

In the Champions League, they sit one point behind Dortmund in Group F.
