Lazio Coach Inzaghi Didn’t Play Milinkovic-Savic Against Udinese After Poor Work In Training

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi was not impressed with the way that Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic trained after returning from a battle with Covid-19, which is why he did not feature against Udinese yesterday, according to a report from the Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero, as reported by LazioNews24.

The report details how the 25-year-old Serbian midfielder, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, did not feature for even a minute against the Bianconeri in yesterday’s 3-1 loss, the first game this campaign where he was left on the bench.

Since returning from Serbia, Milinkovic-Savic has been regularly in training with the squad at Formello, the report continues, but has not yet earnt his return to the pitch.

Inzaghi was not impressed with the 25-year-old’s work in training and so decided to leave him on the bench in the game, not as a genuine punishment but simply a way to set boundaries.

Italian striker Ciro Immobile did feature in the match, despite only completing one training session beforehand, but his clear drive showed his desire to return.
