Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi: “Without Burki’s Saves We Would Have Won”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi spoke to gathered reporters in a press conference earlier today, discussing the Biancocelesti’s tough 1-1 draw against German side Borussia Dortmund.

His words were noted by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

An excellent point against a strong team, I am happy with the guys’ performance, with character and desire. In the second half we kept Borussia Dortmund low and without Burki’s saves we would have won.

The Italian coach commented on this weekend’s league clash against newly promoted Spezia, as well as next week’s final Champions League group game against Club Brugge.

Now we will have an important game in the league on Saturday and then we’ll think about the decisive match against Brugge.

Thinking one game at a time. Against Spezia we will try to do well to make up for the loss against Udinese.

Finally, Inzaghi spoke about the performance of 30-year-old Italian striker Ciro Immobile, who scored from the penalty spot in the game.

I am happy for him and the others. I am sorry for Pereira, who deserved to score.

Lazio’s draw with Dortmund leaves them second in the table, meaning that a draw or win is needed against Club Brugge next week to guarantee qualification to the next round of the competition.
