Lazio are increasingly convinced by the performances of on-loan defender Wesley Hoedt and are considering signing him in January, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.
The report details how the 26-year-old Dutch defender, who is currently on loan from Premier League side Southampton, has performed well for the Biancocelesti so far this season, quickly adapting to coach Simone Inzaghi’s tactical system.
Hoedt has made 10 appearances across all competitions so far this season, starting in seven of those and missing only the loss to Udinese. In that time, he has helped the side keep one clean sheet.
Lazio can sign the 26-year-old Dutchman for €5 million and are considering paying that fee early in January.
The Dutchman has clearly changed from the player that previously played for Lazio back in the 2016/17 season, who was accused of being a little arrogant. Now Hoedt is showing his consistency and humility.
