Lazio Midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: “I Give My Best to Score”

Lazio bounced back from its 3-1 home Serie A loss to Udinese with a 2-1 away win against Spezia. Ciro Immobile got the scoring rolling for the Biancocelesti with his sixth league goal of the season and Lazio added another thanks to a Sergej Milinkovic-Savic free-kick goal later in the first half.

The free-kick goal for Milinkovic-Savic was his second such goal in league play this season, which is already more than he recorded in 37 league games last season (1). The Serbian midfielder spoke about the mentality of scoring free-kick goals in post-game comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

I’m not the free-kick specialist. The important thing is that I train every day and if I get the chance in a match, I give my best to score. The ball has entered and I hope it will be the same in the next few occasions.

Lazio needed this win after the 3-1 loss to Udinese in its last league outing. Milinkovic-Savic spoke briefly about the keys that gave Lazio a key win over Spezia.

After the bad match against Udinese, we entered this match well, with the same mentality as in a Champions League game. For this reason, we were able to go two goals ahead.

With this pivotal away win, Lazio now currently holds seventh place in the Serie A standings, which puts them at just a mere one point behind fourth-place Sassuolo.
