Lazio achieved a feat that only one other team in its club’s history has been able to accomplish. With a 2-2 draw against Club Brugge on Tuesday, Lazio officially clinched a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage for just the second time in the club’s history.
Former Lazio forward Roberto Rambaudi is thoroughly impressed with how Lazio was able to will through and clinch a spot in the Champions League knockout stage. Rambaudi watched the team’s fixture against Club Brugge and provided his thoughts in comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.
The qualification is well deserved, also for how they were able to overcome the various difficulties. The team proved to be strong yesterday in the last 15 minutes. In my opinion, they can make good progress in the Champions League because they truly have 11 excellent starters.
Rambaudi is already looking ahead to what may be a pivotal winter transfer window. As usual, Lazio has plenty linked with plenty of players for possible transfer deals, but it still remains to be seen whether the Italian side will be aiming to strengthen the team over the upcoming transfer window. For Rambaudi, he believes that the team does not need any notable moves at the moment.
I don’t think there is a need to intervene on the market in January, especially in defense. In January, it is hard to intervene, in any case behind as regards the owners. With Hoedt, Luis Felipe, Radu and Acerbi, the team is in place. Hoedt turned out to be a starter; he has excellent physical qualities and taking him off yesterday was a mistake. As for Lulic’s replacement, Fares did not live up to what was thought. Hopefully, Lulic returns.
It will be interesting to see what approach Lazio will have over the winter transfer window.
