Italian Journalist Sconcerti: “Lazio Are the Favourites Against Any Team in Italy”

Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti discussed Lazio’s current position after reaching the Round of 16 in the Champions League yesterday and their play in Serie A this season in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster TMW Radio earlier today.

The 72-year-old Italian journalist commented on if the Roman side’s qualification to the next round in Europe will improve their performances domestically.

I hope so. For me they are always the favourites against any opponent in Italy, if they’re good. If they want to be in the top four, they must have more consistency, because there are teams that’re more prepared ahead of them and Lazio have to beat them.

Lazio are currently 7th in Serie A after 10 games, sitting on 17 points, one behind rivals Roma who sit 6th.

Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan are the current league leaders, sitting on 26 points after achieving eight wins and two draws so far this campaign. They’re the only remaining undefeated team alongside Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus, who are 4th with 20 points.

Lazio’s next game in the league is against 8th place Hellas Verona on Saturday, a key game to establish strong footing in the league table.
