Cristian Ledesma is well-beloved by Lazio fans for his time spent with the club. The Argentine did not score a bulk of goals during his time with the Italian side, but he did score a rocket against AS Roma in Serie A play 14 years ago today.

The Argentine’s goal helped Lazio clinch a much-needed 3-0 win over AS Roma. More so, it was a goal that many remember most from his time with the club.

In words noted by Lazio’s official website, Ledesma looked back on the goal and just how much it meant to him to score this wonder score against the team’s biggest rival.

I’m stubborn; I certainly would have won space anyway. But I’m not hypocritical, that goal simplified everything. We were living in a particular moment, with the results that didn’t arrive. We were struggling to play as a team, and I had just taken the place of a great midfielder like Liverani.

That goal changed the eyes of the fans for me, certainly not the ones I had towards them, who have always been our strength. Fate wanted my control to stretch the ball onto goal.

This is surely a goal to remember from Ledesma’s run with Lazio.
