Ciro Immobile picked off where he left off from last season in Serie A by finishing UEFA Champions League group stage play among the top goal-scorers over this portion of the competition.
As noted by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, Immobile racked up five goals over four appearances in the Champions League group stage this season. This number led the team as only forward Joaquin Correa (2) managed to score more than one goal over the group stage.
Overall, only four players finished with more goals scored in the group stage than Immobile. All of these such players scored six goals, including Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.
With Lazio punching its spot for the Champions League Round of 16, Immobile is surely not done yet in the competition. He will be aiming to lead his side to a possible deep Champions League knockout stage run, which would surely be a sight to see.
