Lazio’s qualification to the Champions League Round of 16 has seen them earn around €45-47 million in total, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei earlier today, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The report details how securing a spot in the knockout stages of the competition added €10.4 million to the Biancocelesti’s haul of €35-36 million already earnt this campaign from the Champions League, record figures in president Claudio Lotito’s era.

These figures have been incredibly important to help combat the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the report continues, as the Biancocelesti lost around €20-25 million from lost ticket sales.

Lazio’s 2019/20 fiscal year ended with a negative balance of €15 million, which must be sorted by the end of the current fiscal year.

The Roman side have been good at managing the pandemic, only cutting one month’s salary from players last season and this campaign paying the full salaries without delay.

The Lazio squad will also receive around €150 thousand each as a bonus for reaching the Round of 16.
