The Numbers Behind Lazio’s Champions League Earnings This Season

Lazio’s qualification into the UEFA Champions League knockout stage this season has been pivotal for the club from both a sporting and economic perspective. From a sporting standpoint, the Italian side will be playing in the Champions League knockout stage for just the second time in the club’s history. And when examining Lazio’s success from an economic viewpoint, this is becoming a grand season for the club.

The Italian-based outlet Calcio e Finanza analyzed Lazio’s earnings just from its current Champions League run this season. Overall, Lazio has hauled in €45.2 million from its Champions League run this season. The club earned a combined €26.7 million from both a participation bonus and a historical ranking add-on.

The club’s performances in the group stage portion of the competition netted Lazio a fair share. With the two wins and four draws over its six Champions League group stage fixtures this season, Lazio garnered €9 million. More so, with Lazio qualifying for the Champions League Round of 16, the club added another €9.5 million bonus.

With the €45.2 million in Champions League earnings, Lazio could continue to haul in more if the club is able to make a deep run in the knockout stage.
