Italian Journalist Franco Recanatesi Believes Real Madrid Would be the “Ideal Opponent” for Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16

Lazio’s qualification into the UEFA Champions League knockout stage has opened up a multitude of possibilities on how the club’s board will aim to approach the upcoming winter transfer window. For one, there will be speculation regarding whether Lazio will be seeking to strengthen the team in order to not only add reinforcements to its Serie A run but also for a possible dark-horse Champions League knockout stage run.

For Italian journalist Franco Recanatesi, he believes that the club should be aiming to sign players over the upcoming winter window. He gave his thoughts in comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet Cittaceleste about the position that the club should be focusing on shoring up.

Requests for a strong defender and a vice Leiva are legitimate, as the club received the money after passing the group stage of the Champions League. Right investments would allow the Biancocelesti to return to the top of the most important peaks in Italy and Europe.

As mentioned, Lazio will be playing in the upcoming Champions League knockout stage later this season. Recenatesi already has one club in mind that he hopes the Italian side will be drawn to go up against.

For me the ideal opponent would be Real Madrid. Otherwise Chelsea would be fine.

The Champions League Round of 16 draw will be held on Monday.
