Former Italian Football Federation General Manager Applauds Lazio for Advancing to Champions League Round of 16

Former General Manager of the Italian Football Federation, Antonello Valentini, made an appearance on TMW Radio on their Maracana program where he discussed various topics, including his thoughts on Lazio advancing past the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.

Lazio qualified for Europe’s top competition for the first time in 12 years, so it was unchartered territory for the Biancocelesti. Nonetheless, they drew into Group F, which gave them a realistic chance of advancing into the knockout stages, considering no dominant club was in the group.

In their first time back in the Champions League, Lazio didn’t lose a match while obtaining points in all six fixtures with two wins and four draws. As a result, they went through as the second-place club, which is an impressive accomplishment, according to Valentini.

Surprises in Europe? The negative one is Inter, the positive one is Lazio. But with their President being Claudio Lotito, if he wants the club to progress further, he’ll have to reach into his wallet…

The Round of 16 will see Lazio face off against one of these clubs: Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City FC, Liverpool, or Chelsea.
