Despite carrying the momentum from qualifying for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Lazio couldn’t turn that European accomplishment into a win against Hellas Verona FC as they fell 2-1 in their return to domestic competition.
Two mistakes, courtesy of an own-goal and a defensive miscommunication, led to Verona’s goals as Lazio beat themselves in this loss.
After their victory, Verona manager Ivan Juric spoke at a press conference where the Italian media outlet Lazio News 24 relayed his comments.
It was a good match, one where we were very concentrated.
We worked hard; we did not want to concede and press a lot to rush Reina in making a play.
We could have scored a few more goals. In certain situations, we had to be meaner.
In any case, I saw a slightly tired Lazio after the Champions League.
