Bayern Executive Jung: “Interesting Duel Between Lewandowski & Lazio’s Immobile”

Bayern Munich executive board director Andreas Jung discussed the German club’s Champions League Round of 16 draw against Lazio in an interview earlier today, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

For us they are an unknown, we have never played against Lazio in this competition. Lazio had a good group stage, won two games and drew four, which means they are undefeated just like us.

I think it will also be very interesting to see the two top scorers of last season, Ciro Immobile and Robert Lewandowski, face each other. It will be an exciting duel.

Lazio’s 30-year-old Italian star Immobile, who is contracted to the Roman club until 2025, won the European Golden Boot last season for his incredible performances and goal tally in Rome.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward made 44 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 3685 minutes.

In that time, he scored 39 goals and provided eight assists, contributing to a goal every 78.4 minutes.

Lewandowski was equally as prolific last season, scoring 55 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions, with 34 of those coming in the Bundesliga.

The first leg against Bayern Munich will be played on 16/17/23/24 February and the second leg will take place on 9/10/16/17 March, with the final dates yet to be confirmed.
