Italian journalist Riccardo Cucchi discussed Lazio’s Champions League Round of 16 draw against Bayern Munich in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio earlier today, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.
Lazio will face the strongest team, it will be very difficult but it will be faced with pride. We mustn’t lose our heads before playing them, even if for me Bayern Munich are the strongest team in Europe. I would have preferred Real Madrid, but whatever.
When you get to the Round of 16 it’s difficult to make a choice. If the Biancocelesti manage to get through the round, they’ll be projected as one of the main players in the competition, but if not, we have to take into account the technical difference.
Courage and pride are needed. What better stimulus than Bayern Munich. Not being obliged to win is an advantage.
Simone Inzaghi’s side finished second in their group after six games, not losing once in the competition. Bayern Munich were also undefeated in their group, although they topped Group A after winning five of their six matches.
The first leg will be played on 16/17/23/24 February and the second leg will take place on 9/10/16/17 March, with the final dates not currently confirmed.
