Lazio Coach Inzaghi: “Facing Bayern Is Great Motivation for Everyone to Grow”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi discussed the disappointing loss to Hellas Verona, the Champions League draw and tomorrow’s match against Benevento in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Channel earlier today.

First, he touched on how it feels to face his brother Filippo Inzaghi’s Benevento.

It will be a special challenge for me, playing against my brother as an opponent will be exciting. Everyone will play their own game, at the final whistle we will embrace each other. At the end it will have been a great satisfaction for our families.

The 44-year-old Italian coach commented on tomorrow’s Serie A clash against the newly promoted side.

It will be a difficult match to face, like the rest in Serie A. We’re both coming from two undeserved defeats, we will try to do our best to improve our position in the table.

The home factor? Our record at the Olimpico is not good. It’s normal that we all feel the absence of our fans. We have to move forward, what is done is done. The Champions League took a lot of energy away from us, both physically and mentally, but now we have plenty of time to make up for lost points.

Inzaghi then discussed Lazio’s upcoming opponents in the Champions League Round of 16, reigning European champions Bayern Munich.

The top teams are the world elite. We face the European champions, it will be a great motivation for everyone to grow and do well in the two months ahead of this match.

Now we have to reset after the group stages, we know what we have done. Facing the European champions must be a reason for stimulation and growth. Lazio must try to get there in the best possible way.

Finally, Inzaghi spoke about the Biancocelesti’s injured players.

We will have to evaluate various players. We will have a few absences due to disqualifications and injuries. In Benevento we’ll bring the players who are in the best shape to play a good game.
