Bayern Munich assistant coach and former Lazio striker Miroslav Klose discussed the upcoming Champions League Round of 16 clash between the two teams in an interview on the Bavarian’s official website yesterday.
Many people from Rome have already contacted me. I’m very happy, Lazio was definitely my favorite opponent. I have a lot in common with this club and this city.
They’re a dangerous team with Inzaghi’s 3-5-, who was also my coach for a short period of time. It will not be an easy challenge, we will analyze them well and draw our own conclusions.
Klose spent the last five years of his career with the Biancocelesti, from 2011 to 2016. In that time, he made 171 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 11503 minutes.
During that period, he scored 63 goals and provided 35 assists, helping the club win the Coppa Italia in the 2012/13 season.
Both Lazio and Bayern Munich finished their group stage undefeated, although the German side topped their group with five wins, whilst the Biancocelesti came in second with two wins and four draws.
