Lazio’s performance against Benevento was frustrating for the club on many levels. Lazio dropped points for the third time in its last four fixtures. More so, the Biancocelesti had multiple chances to put the game away in the second half, but in the end, the club had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Nonetheless, there were several top performers from Lazio’s showing against Benevento. As pointed out by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, midfielder Gonzalo Escalante made his first Serie A start of the season for Lazio and was one standout performer. He completed 98 percent of his passes, logged two interceptions and completed a pair of tackles as well. Escalante played in 80 minutes of the contest before being substituted off late by manager Simone Inzaghi.
More so, Luiz Felipe had a strong showing and did what he could to prevent Benevento from turning the fixture into a goal-scoring fest. Felipe completed two clearances and two interceptions.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was once again the workhorse on the team. He recorded for 11,868 km traveled, which led the team. The Lazio midfielder also recorded an assist and a trio of ground duels won.
On key not from the fixture was that Lazio much preferred to attack the left flanks as that is where 39 percent of its attacking output came from.
In the big picture, Lazio has work to do in order to orchestrate a complete performance.
