Ex-Atalanta Forward Rolando Bianchi: “Papu Gomez Would Be Useful To Lazio”

Former Lazio and Atalanta forward Rolando Bianchi discussed Argentine forward Papu Gomez and his possible departure from the Bergamaschi side in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today.

He is an extraordinary player. I hope he can stay in Bergamo but he would be useful to any big team, to the Rossoneri if Calhanoglu were to leave, to Napoli but also to Lazio.

However, he’s starting to get old. In Bergamo he can also miss two or three games while elsewhere he might not be able to afford it. He will have to make a well-considered choice.

Bianchi then commented on the title race and which teams are most likely to secure the Scudetto.

I believe that Pioli’s team will struggle. They do not have great spare parts.

Against Parma, Ibra would have brought the three points home. The alternatives are missing. Juve, Inter and Napoli have an excellent squad.

Papu Gomez seems incredibly likely to leave Atalanta in the upcoming January transfer window, after suffering a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 32-year-old Argentine forward, who is contracted to the Bergamo based club until 2022, has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1085 minutes.

In that time, he has scored five goals and provided four assists.
