Lazio’s Lucas Leiva & Mohamed Fares Out Until New Year Due to Muscle Injuries

2020 seems to be over for Lazio’s Lucas Leiva and Mohamed Fares, both struggling due to injuries, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei earlier today, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The report details how coach Simone Inzaghi could not pick first team regulars Francesco Acerbi, Leiva and Fares in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Benevento, due to different muscle injuries.

Whilst the 32-year-old Acerbi may be fit in time to face either Napoli or AC Milan, the same cannot be said for the Brazilian midfielder and Algerian wing back.

Leiva was already considered at risk, having been stopped for two weeks due to Covid-19 and then playing seven consecutive games in 21 days.

It is the same situation for Fares, who has featured in almost every game this campaign, being rested only twice.

Even Italian striker Ciro Immobile is exhausted, with the upcoming Christmas break set to be incredibly important for the Biancocelesti.
