A Closer Look at Lazio’s Serie A Struggles Since Returning to Play from the Coronavirus Suspension

Before the coronavirus shutdown earlier this year, Lazio was looming around for a possible upset in Serie A. The Binacocelesti was hovering around the top-four spots in Serie A and was deemed by many to make a late push to claim the league title. But since Lazio returned to play in June, it has been one grand struggle for the club.

Last season, Lazio lost form but did fight to the end to maintain a top-four standing by the season’s end. And so far this season, it has been a run of underperforming fixtures for the club.

Overall, Lazio has played in 24 Serie A games since returning from the coronavirus suspension. And in those 24 fixtures, the Italian side has come away with 10 wins, which is an underwhelming number for a team that emerged as a serious contender in the league last season.

Simone Inzaghi has much work to do in order to turn this season around for the club.
