Lazio Showed Interest in Signing Current Granada Forward Luis Suarez Over the Recent Summer Transfer Window

Lazio was linked with plenty of talents over the recent summer transfer window, including current Granada forward Luis Suarez.

The Colombian forward signed with Watford in 2017 and subsequently made three loan stints. Last season, he spent the year with Spanish Segunda Division side Real Zaragoza where he scored 19 goals in all competitions.

Suarez’s showing for the Spanish side caught the attention of several clubs, including Lazio. According to a report from Sky Sport’s site GialuncaDiMarzio.com, the Italian side sought to sign Suarez as a key depth reinforcement, especially as the club was slated to compete in the UEFA Champions League this season.

In the end, Granada swooped in and signed Suarez. Granada sporting director Fran Sanchez reflected on the signing in comments relayed by Di Marzio’s site.

Suarez, we managed to take him outright from Watford at the very last moment before the summer session closed. One-shot. In the first years of his contract, we can buy 100% of his rights based on the achievement of certain objectives. I already knew him, we had worked together for four months in Granada in 2016. He is a forward who has great room for improvement.

Suarez could have been a key depth addition for Lazio in all competitions this season, especially as since Sanchez noted, the forward still has much to improve on with his game.
