Former Lazio Defender Does Not Believe That the Club’s Recent Form Should be of a Significant Concern

Lazio is currently in the midst of one of its worst Serie A spells in the Simone Inzaghi era.

The Biancocelesti has recorded 18 points over 12 fixtures this season, which is the club’s worst total through this portion of the campaign in five seasons. With underperformances coupled with injuries, it just has not gone Lazio’s way so far this season.

Still, former Lazio defender Giuseppe Biava is not among those waving the white flag on the team’s season. Biava credits Lazio’s early-season struggles to a number of factors and believes that the side still has what it takes to turn the season around. Biava touched on the team’s form in comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet Cittaceleste.

The Champions [League] takes away a lot of mental and physical energy. The team at the moment is in bursts. Alternate great plays with moments of absence from the field. I don’t think this is a form problem. There are so many injuries and with all these close commitments, it is difficult to recover to be at your best right away.

Still, Biava notes that Lazio’s habit of conceding goals late before the conclusion of the first half is one aspect that the team can improve on.

The conceding so many goals at the end of the first half may be a coincidence or maybe it depends on the loss of concentration in some moments. It is not easy to maintain these rhythms without ever making mistakes playing every three days.

Lazio has ways to go in order to turn the tide on the campaign.
