“They Need to Start Climbing the League Table” – Former Lazio Defender Hopes His Ex-Club Doesn’t Solely Focus on Champions League

Lazio is currently in ninth place in the Serie A table with 18 points. Although manager Simone Inzaghi has made it clear that there’s plenty of time for the Biancocelesti to have a say in this league season, it will be a challenging task.

For Lazio to clinch a UEFA Champions League birth next season, they’ll need to jump over four clubs to finish in the top four, not an impossible task, but a difficult one nonetheless. If they want to unseat AC Milan atop of the table, Le Aquile will need to hop over seven clubs, which is asking a lot.

According to former Lazio defender Giuseppe Pancaro during a guest appearance on Il Tribunale delle Romane, having a top-four finish in Serie A should be the goal for the remainder of the season, but that might not be the case with the squad still in the Champions League

The feeling from the outside is that Lazio is concentrating a lot on the Champions League. But from now to February, to arrive in the best conditions for the appointment with Bayern, they need to start climbing the league table. To linger in the table and to think only of Europe would be a serious mistake.
