Italian Journalist Demicheli: “Lazio Have Been Following Papu Gomez for Years”

Italian journalist and transfer market expert Marco Demicheli confirmed Lazio’s interest in Atalanta talisman Papu Gomez whilst speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia yesterday. His words were noted by La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Gomez’s story with Atalanta has come to an end.

The Argentine would prefer to stay in Italy because he has settled in well and knows the league.

In addition to Inter and AC Milan, Lazio have been following the player for several years.

The 32-year-old Gomez, who is contracted to the Bergamo-based club until 2022, has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1122 minutes.

In that time, he has scored five goals and provided four assists, being a central part of coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical system.

The player has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with the Italian coach and asked to leave on a free transfer in the upcoming January transfer window, a request that was denied by the Bergamaschi.

Many clubs, including Inter, AC Milan and Lazio, are all looking to secure the player’s signature.
