Lazio Women coach Ashraf Seleman discussed the Biancocelesti’s 3-2 win over Vicenza on Sunday in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) yesterday.
We are happy with yesterday’s win against Vicenza, the only fault was that we didn’t close the game out earlier. We’re the only unbeaten team in the league, the only regret was our approach in the second half and the last half hour.
However, we are deserving of this important spot in the table, where if we won our game in hand we would be first. We have to work on our approach and stay in the game. It’s not enough, we need to be more aggressive in the penalty area if we want to aim for promotion.
He then commented on the performance of Italian midfielder Claudia Palombi, who scored a brace in the win.
I’m happy for Claudia, she deserved her brace. Now we’ll have a break, which perhaps comes at the wrong time.
We’re doing well, we have to continue like this in 2021. We’ll make up for the Chievo game on the 6th January.
Lazio Women are currently 3rd in Serie B after nine games, sitting on 17 points. The Biancocelesti are behind the top two teams in the league, Pomigliano and Riozzese, who have both played more than the Roman club.
