Anderlecht fans are hoping that the club will sign Lazio goalkeeper Silvio Proto in next month’s transfer window, according to a report from Belgian media outlet La Dernière Heure earlier today.
The report details how the Belgian side are looking to sign a new shot stopper next month, and need to identify a new target after free agent Sébastien Bruzzese signed with Cercle Brugge last week.
The club are currently evaluating their options and the fans are hoping for a return of Proto, whose contract expires with the Biancocelesti at the end of this season.
The 37-year-old Belgian goalkeeper is Lazio’s third choice option, being Spaniard Pepe Reina and Albanian Thomas Strakosha.
He has not made an appearance this campaign for the Roman club.
Proto previously spent 11 years of his career tied to Anderlecht, from 2005 to 2016. In that time, he made 372 appearances across all competitions, conceding 378 goals and keeping 148 clean sheets.
He has only made nine appearances for Lazio since joining in the summer of 2018.
