Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi will face former Formello colleague Stefano Pioli when the Biancocelesti take on AC Milan this evening, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how Pioli and Inzaghi worked together in Formello for over a year and a half, with the former working as the coach of the first team and the latter managing the Primavera squad.

Inzaghi would take over the first team from Pioli after his dismissal in 2016, the report continues.

The Rossoneri this season under Pioli resemble the Lazio team from last season, who were flying up the table and threatening to challenge Juventus’ dominance of the Scudetto.

In the post lockdown period, Pioli has driven AC Milan forward, helping them to earn 61 consecutive points. They have not lost a match since the 8th March, and are the only undefeated team remaining in Europe’s top five leagues.
