Lazio played its final game of the calendar year when it came away with a 3-2 defeat against AC Milan. The fixture was a grand opportunity for Lazio to move away from its eighth-place standing in the league table. But the Biancocelesti was unable to score the pivotal third goal after coming behind from a  2-0 deficit.

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi took some time following the game to reflect on the year. From qualifying for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage to an up-and-down league campaign, it was certainly a rollercoaster season. More so, the recent congestion of fixtures has certainly been one that many managers have had to go through, including Inzaghi.

The Lazio manager provided his thoughts on both matters with comments relayed by the club’s official website.

2020 will be remembered for the return to the Champions League and the pre-Covid ride. Unfortunately, playing every three days, the players are always at their limit. This schedule is difficult for everyone.

Lazio has a long way to go in its league campaign, but it needs to quickly string together a quality run of games in order to inch closer to a top-four standing in the league.
